BIOGRAPHY
I was born and raised outside of New York City. I graduated from Syracuse University with a BFA in the fine arts specializing in graphic design. Interest in aesthetics of the home and table were heightened at my first post-graduation job as a tableware designer for Corning Glass Works, Corning , NY. Design and family responsibilities followed for several years thereafter.
My love of pottery came to the forefront while living in Greensboro, NC several years later while taking my first class at a local community center. I have since taught classes with full-time working adults and kids with disabilities in North Carolina, New Jersey, and Colorado. Once having touched clay, the hook was set. Since 1997, I have been a part of the unique Carbondale Clay Center family. I will be forever grateful for all the people I’ve met through these associations.
ARTIST STATEMENT
My love of clay has taken me in many exciting directions during the last 28 years. The medium is so multifaceted that it is all too often a challenge to narrow one’s focus. The aesthetics of African, eastern, and historical design have always been at the forefront of my core “voice.” The “unearthed” qualities and exquisite simplicity for these design elements continually intrigue me. Each time I digress…I come willingly back to them. It is a naturally comfortable place for me to be.
