ADULT POTTERY & CERAMIC CLASSES

I have no clay experience.  I have taken a few classes, but it was years ago. I have little understanding of the difference between coil build, slab building, building with molds, or throwing on the wheel.

I have taken several clay classes. I feel comfortable enough in clay to be able to make basic forms.  I have some knowledge of clay related terminology but am looking to have a better understanding. I am comfortable working independently.

I have taken several clay classes within the past several years. I feel confident working with clay but am looking to expand my knowledge and skill set.  I am confident working independently.

WINTER 2025 INDEPENDENT STUDY

The Independent Study program is intended for intermediate/advanced ceramic artists with considerable clay experience who do not need instruction. Each individual will receive a half-shelf and a first come, first serve sign-up calendar for studio time shared with the adult session students. Independent Study is for self-paced artists who wish to practice and produce work with little to no guidance in the studio. Independent Study has a specific start and end date for a fixed rate regardless of when you can start or if you need to end early. Should you wish to take up a full shelf rather than a half shelf, you may purchase a quantity of two half shelves at checkout.

Dates: Monday, January 20, 2025 - Thursday, March 6, 2025 | Glaze Week: March 7 - 15, 2025

Requirements: Must have taken at least 1 intermediate/advanced level class at CCC or at least 2 beginning classes at CCC

Price: $300/half shelf | Firing fees included | Clay not included

*If you have not taken an intermediate/advanced level class at CCC and are confident working independently or have outside experience, please contact programs@carbondaleclay.org. Feeling good on the wheel? Let's step it up together. Teapots, Lidded Jars, Handled Baskets... Pots with multiple parts require timing and skills that challenge the potter. We'll workshop lids that fit, pots that pour and gaining height thru stacking wet parts. Potters will be asked to arrive with an idea that challenges their skills.
