ARTIST STATEMENT
Our greatest resource is not extracted from the earth or manufactured, it is the people we encounter and surround ourselves with in life. However, we are often found separated from each other or only connected through a screen of text and snapshots of our sharable moments. Through my work I provide moments of opportunity for people to come together face to face to share life, exchange ideas and ideals and have a better understanding of each other.
I have started to utilize atmospheric firing to develop intentional differences across a series of matching forms. Influenced by what the firing process and the pieces proximity to others around it embody the concepts of space and community that having influence on each other. Some pieces show a more direct relationship through shadows left behind from pieces stacked on top of or propped close by. A physical embodiment of an intimate interpersonal relationship.
