PERSPECTIVES: HIGH SCHOOL INVITATIONAL
On display at the CCC Gallery
March 13th - April 14th, 2023
First Friday Reception
April 7th | 6-8PM
Perspectives is a curated exhibition featuring the work of a variety of students from participating local high schools - Basalt High School, Colorado Rocky Mountain School, and Yampah Mountain High School.
Through this show, Carbondale Clay Center sought to engage Garfield County high school students with an educational opportunity that coincides with an exhibition. CCC’s Studio Manager, Matthew Eames, has been visiting the participating high schools to offer feedback and critique to students beginning November of 2022. We hope to give students the opportunity to learn about what it means to be an artist in the community, what it takes to be a part of an active gallery and exhibition space.
“Having been a high school ceramic student, I didn’t get many opportunities in which to display my art within a professional community setting. When the idea for this show was brought to CCC by Basalt art teacher Denae Statzer, I was quite enthused to provide an opportunity for the younger generation of artists.” Says Studio Manager, Matthew Eames. “Beyond just being an exhibition, I wanted to share the knowledge I have gained throughout the years to raise awareness that becoming a creative professional is a possibility.”
