CLAY SAFETY AT HOME

Here are a few tips on setting up a clay work space at home and some safety precautions.

1. It’s best to have a designated area for clay making.
2. Don’t wash clay down the sink. Clay can clog up your pipes! Clay bits, slug, or clay water can be tossed outside.
3. When cleaning, pick up all bits of clay and then wipe surfaces with sponge and water. No dry sweeping, because it causes too much dust (clay dust is unhealthy to breath).

CAN CCC FIRE MY CLAY CREATIONS?

We can fire your creations to completion, but please keep the following in mind.

  • Firings will be an additional fee and are calculated by percentage of space in the kilns

  • It is up to the Studio Manager's discretion on whether the piece(s) can be fired

  • size requirements

    • no smaller than 2 x 2" x 2"

    • no larger than 8" x 8" x 8"

  • when transporting to CCC to be fired, handle with care. Clay's most fragile state is when completely dry before it has been fired.
