BIOGRAPHY

Angus Graham is remembered as a talented, passionate and widely adored member of the Carbondale Clay Center community. Angus was a highly involved member of the arts community in the Roaring Fork Valley, often teaching children’s classes at the center, assisting artist Alleghany Meadows and the Artstream Nomadic Gallery, taking classes at the Anderson Ranch Arts Center, and being an active member at SAW (Studio for Arts + Works) in Carbondale. After his passing in August 2017, the Carbondale Clay Center (with support from his family and friends) created the Angus L. Graham Memorial Fund, which serves to benefit future developing artists through scholarships, outreach programs, and supplies for educational activities.

ARTIST STATEMENT

Pots are never meant to be alone. They are always accompanied by food, drink, flowers, or humans. Thus I want my pots to never overpower a situation they are in. I want them to be resound and complimentary. I want them to lead by example, or support from the shadows. And yet when they are called up on to be observed, I want them to stand proud, and speak firmly, strong, confidently - without hesitation.
